About:

Dr. Jeffrey Chien is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with fellowship training in Medical Education. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (FAAEM). He is known for his leadership, academic contributions, and commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Chien serves as an Affiliate Clinical Instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine and actively mentors the next generation of emergency physicians.

Experience:

Dr. Chien currently practices at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital, and St. Louise Regional Medical Center. He previously served as Medical Director at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he led initiatives in patient safety, clinical operations, and performance improvement. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was Chief Resident, followed by an academic fellowship at Stanford University. He has received numerous accolades, including Physician of the Year and Faculty of the Year awards, and has presented and published extensively in the fields of emergency medicine, patient safety, and simulation-based education.

Dr. Chien serves as the Emergency Response Physician for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, providing sideline care for on-field emergencies requiring immediate resuscitation. He also acts as the Visiting Team Medical Liaison, delivering concierge care to visiting players and coaches, including triage and evaluation for medical issues outside the scope of their team’s physicians.
